About the Event

We will start the day with a small ritual to imbue our intent into our work. We will ask the materials to work with us and visualise the piece we are about to make, whether that be sacred or practical.

The day will be guided by Lisa who will teach us a skill called soft basketry. Once you have learnt the cordage technique you can transfer this skill to endless materials and not just the fabric we will be working with. You can use materials such as grass, leaves, rush, cordyline, nettle or bramble. Once you have made the string the possibilities are endless, you could even knit or crochet with it. You will by the end of the day have made a piece for you to take home and work with, maybe a matt or pouch for sacred items, or a glasses case, that choice will be yours.

We will be using fabric to learn with and you will need to bring some with you. An old bed sheet, T shirt, scarf, dress, leather etc would all be suitable and contrasting colours would also work well. You can make your item more personal if you want to bring along a special piece of clothing that you no longer wear but cant bear to throw away.  Lisa will have spare material and strong thread for sewing. If you choose to use her materials there would be a charge for these, please allow up to £10.

The group will be limited to 12 places so that she has the time to give help and guidance where needed.

We will be in the yurt or, if blessed with a warm sunny day, you can also work outside in nature.

There will be a break for lunch  which will be vegetable soup and bread. Please bring any other food, snacks or dietary requirements. Hot drinks and water will be available as needed all day.

I have set an early bird price so we can secure Lisa's services to allow the event to go ahead. This also gives an opportunity to fill the space and keep costs down for those attending.

HINT - This day would be a lovely mothers days gift ;)

Price including lunch and drinks £39.00 (plus materials on the day)
